A. Reasonable alternatives to the activity that would reduce the impact on species have been considered and the best solution has been adopted.Reasonable alternatives have been considered and the best solution has been adopted. Alternatives are not as reliable, and are more stressful to birds. B. Feasible measures will be taken to minimize the impact of activity on species or critical habitat or residence.There are well-established techniques for capturing birds. Stress to birds will be minimized by: a. using appropriate capture methods for the species; b. immediately removing birds upon capture; c. minimizing handling time; d. operating only in favourable weather conditions; e. processing of birds will be completed only by well trained, experienced personnel who hold active bird banding permits; f. protecting habitat from disturbance to the extent possible. C. Activity will not jeopardize the survival or recovery of the species.This activity will not jeopardize the survival of the species as a whole because sample sizes are low, all measures are being taken to reduce stress levels, and reduce any impact to habitat. These activities will help with our understanding of subspecies structure in the population.
