Activity necessary or beneficial to the species
For the purpose of releasing captive Loggerhead Shrikes to supplement the wild population; using captive birds to develop ecogenomic tools for species management; research involving both captive and released birds; and collection and long-term storage and banking of materials from both captive and wild shrikes.

A. Reasonable alternatives to the activity that would reduce impact on species - All activities will be in accordance with established protocols for husbandry and release of captive-bred Loggerhead Shrikes, and permittee must adhere to the conditions in the animal care committee approval. B. Feasible measures will be taken to minimize impact of activity on species or critical habitat or residence - The activity will not impact directly on critical habitat. To minimize impact on the species, qualified staff, approved equipment and procedures must be used. C. Activity will not jeopardize the survival or recovery of the species - This request will benefit the species by supporting the Recovery Strategy for the species.
